  • Our Work in the Community  ( 1 items )

Loaves and Fishes provides nutritious meals, in an atmosphere of hospitality, to the hungry of the Twin Cities Metro area in the vicinity of Faith Lutheran Church, 499 Charles Ave. Together with the parishioners of St. Philip’s Church, we prepare and serve the food and clean up. We average 142 guests on the second Monday of the odd-numbered months.

GLBT Ministry welcomes Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender people. These GLBT persons are welcome here and are active as individuals and couples in a wide variety of ministries. St. Christopher’s is a member of Integrity and several members are active in Space Available. In June, an annual PRIDE Picnic is celebrated. GLBT persons, their families, and allies are invited.

Habitat for Humanity is a joint effort with St. Timothy's Lutheran Church. We rehab a home with the Habitat for Humanity project of the Twin Cities. Volunteers are always welcome.

Meals on Wheels enables seniors to live independently as long as possible. Volunteer drivers are required every third Tuesday, using their own car and volunteering two hours of time.

Newcomer Committee provides a welcoming voice and assistance to those seeking to make St. Christopher's their church home. The committee normally meets Monday evenings. Call for information.

Outreach and Advocacy Committee of St. Christopher's is presently active in support of the following outreach activities: Habitat for Humanity, food bag collections, Adopt-A-Family, Mitten Tree, Adopt-A-Highway, Meals-On-Wheels, Refugee Resettlement, Loaves and Fishes, Bloodmobile, and Quilt Project. Advocacy concerns are: St. Paul Area Council of Churches, Joint Religious Legislative Coalition, Episcopal Public Policy Network, and special collection Sundays for Episcopal Community Services, Episcopal Church Home, Episcopal Relief and Development (formerly: Presiding Bishop’s Fund), and United Thank Offering. To learn more or become involved, call for information.

Side door ministries are various groups from the surrounding community that use our facility and provide opportunities for us to serve their needs: Chinese Day Care, Over-Eaters Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, Clutterers Anonymous, Red Cross Blood Mobile, Home School Writing Project, Bonsai Society, Scottish Dancers, Lions Club and others.
